Are you thirsty for God? Are the devil and evil spirits oppressing you? Do you need compassion, hope, honor, respect, acceptance, and spiritual fulfillment? Do you need freedom from condemnation and shame? Do you desire a better life? Do you need revelation about God’s goodness? Do you need a reprieve from the evil in this world? Do you need physical healing? Do you need self-esteem and freedom from fear? All of these promises are found in Jesus Christ!
Jesus ministered to men as well as women when He lived on earth about 2,000 years ago. Today, let’s look at three women He ministered to.
Mary Magdalene Was Thirsty for God
The first is Mary Magdalene. We read about her in Luke 8:1-2 in the Bible:
And it came to pass afterward, that he [Jesus] went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him, And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,….
We see that Jesus delivered Mary Magdalene from seven devils (or demons/evil spirits). You, too, can find deliverance from demons that harass you, put you in fear, and lead you into sin. Just dedicate your heart and life to Jesus Christ and call on His mighty Name for rescue. He will come!!!
We also read about Mary Magdalene in John 20:1-2 and 11-18:
The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the LORD out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him….But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my LORD, and I know not where they have laid him. And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto Him, Sir, if thou have born him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto Him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father; and to my God, and your God. Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the LORD, and that he had spoken these things unto her.
Mary Magdalene was brokenhearted. Her Lord Jesus had been crucified and put to death on the cross. She thought the Jews had stolen the body. She felt hopeless. Jesus had been resurrected but had not yet ascended to the Father. As urgently as He desired to go to heaven to see the Heavenly Father at last, He had one thing to do first. He appeared to Mary Magdalene to heal her broken heart and give her hope. He showed her compassion and gave her honor: it appears she was the first person to see Jesus resurrected!
Are you thirsty for God? Is your heart broken? Do you feel hopeless? Have you been dishonored? Reach out to Jesus! He has compassion for you and will heal your broken heart and give you hope and honor! Psalm 34:18 says, “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
The Samaritan Woman at the Well Was Thirsty for God
Are you thirsty for God? Let’s look at the Samaritan woman at the well. We read about her in John 4:5-29 and 39:
Then cometh he [Jesus] to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?…And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
This Samaritan woman had married and probably divorced five men. The man she now had wasn’t her husband. Jesus accepted her and showed her respect by talking with her. Jews generally did not talk with Samaritans. They were prejudiced. Jesus didn’t discriminate against her for being a Samaritan or for being a woman. Her offered her spiritual fulfillment. He offered her living water that would well up within her and spring into everlasting life. He offered her a fulfillment she could not find on earth. He did not shame and condemn her for her sinful life. Jesus offered her a better life! He gave her revelation of Himself! He invited her into the Presence of God to worship Father God and Jesus, a reprieve from the spiritual emptiness in life. Jesus also gave her a testimony and a ministry!
Are you thirsty for God? Are you like this Samaritan woman in some ways? Do you have a shameful past? Jesus accepts you. He does not shame and condemn you! He is not prejudiced against you because of your nationality or gender. He delights in conversing with you in spirit now! Jesus said in Revelation 3:20: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man [person] hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” He offers you spiritual fulfillment! He offers you living water that will well up within your heart and spring into everlasting life! He offers you a fulfillment you cannot find on earth! Jesus Christ only asks that you believe in His death on the cross for the forgiveness of all the wrongs you have done to make you right with God and Himself. This promise is to every human. He wants you to believe in His resurrection from the dead and His ascension to heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father on His throne. He wants you to give your life to Him to live for Him. He is only a prayer away!
The Woman with an Issue of Blood Was Thirsty for God
Are you thirsty for God? Let’s look a third woman Jesus ministered to. It is the woman with the issue of blood found in Mark 5:25-34:
And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
This woman had an issue of blood that just wouldn’t stop. She had spent all she had on doctors, and they couldn’t help her. In fact, she got worse! She felt hopeless for man to help her. But she had faith that if she touched Jesus’ clothes that she would be healed. She was considered unclean by Jewish law and wasn’t even allowed to go in public. But she went into public and touched Jesus’ clothes anyway and was immediately healed! Jesus felt virtue go out of Him to heal her. He stopped to find out who touched Him. The woman was frightened Jesus would rebuke her and reject her. She had already been rejected by society for being unclean. She confessed to Jesus the truth about what she had done. Jesus healed her and gave her hope. He made her clean. He gave her a new identity. He called her “Daughter”! He delivered her from fear of rejection!
Are you thirsty for God? Do you need physical healing? Have you spent all you had on doctors and only gotten worse? Reach out to Jesus for healing! He will heal you and give you hope! He will make your spirit, soul, and body clean! He will deliver you from fear of rejection! Do you need self-esteem? He will honor you!
What About You?
These promises are not only for women, but also for men, boys, and girls!
Let us pray: “Dear Jesus, please deliver me from the devil, evil spirits, and demons. Please give me compassion, self-esteem, and honor. Please accept me because I believe in Your death on the cross, resurrection from the dead, and ascension to heaven. Forgive me of all of the bad things I have done, and please save me from the wrath of God. I choose to live for You. Help me please You. Please fill me with the Holy Spirit and take me to heaven when I go to be with You after this life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
If you just prayed this prayer, please reach out to me! I would love to hear from you! Find a good church to go to where you can get closer to God. Pray for a Bible to read daily. Talk to God reverently and daily. God bless you, beloved! ❤
Here is a song I love by Chris Rice about being thirsty for God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit:
